Dunkellin House - an entire house to rent in the heart of the Co. Galway hunt country. Perfect for private hunting parties and people wanting to have the use of a home from home. The owners of the property are steeped within the history of the Galway Blazers and the house lends to many stories and pictures on offer to read about.
The house over looks the River Dunkellin. It is in a peaceful and tranquil location with views out to The Roxborough Hills. It is very accessible to Connemara, The Burren, the Cliffs of Moher and the west within reach of Galway City in 20 mins.
The house is in superb condition with recent refurbishment. Its a unique place with super views.
The house and setting is unique to the area and will provide guests with undoubted relaxation and a great space for privacy. There is a 4 acre garden with woods and the river. To the rear of the house is a paddock which sometimes has in it our own connemara ponies. We own these ponies as the house is part of the TULIRA CONNEMARA STUD.
The facilities in the house are up to date and modern. The House accommodates 8 people with all the bed-rooms being ensuite and the kitchen having all the mod-cons including an AGA, microwave, fridge, freezer, gas cooker, T.V, dishwasher and WIFI.
The library ( sitting area where the flat screen tv is) has a gas fire and heats the room in seconds. This same room over looks the river and has access onto a veranda where there are outdoor chairs and a table for lunch or evening dining in the summer months with access to use of a gas bbq.
The kitchen also has a conservatory attached to it and this is a warm place to relax and read the paper over breakfast again with views of the River and in the distance The Roxborough Hills.
There is a super sized dining room for entertaining. An old fashioned antique dining table to seat 12 with pictures and ornaments that go back to the days when our family owned the renowned Tulira Castle.
Each bedroom as mentioned above is ensuite. There are three double rooms and one twin. Each room has a radio beside the bed and a very warm feel to it.
Galway is famed for it's theatre, arts and film festivals, Galway Races, the Oyster Festival, all of which attract thousands of visitors each year. The World Heritage Site, the Burren; the Cliffs of Moher; the Aran Islands and the Connemara National Park are all close at hand. We would recommend having or hiring a car in order to take in everything on offer and allow you the freedom to set your own timetable and route. Brochures, guides and general information are provided to help make your stay easier and we look forward to welcoming you to our part of County Galway.
There is a local pub about a mile away called the Earl Inn which is owned by a local family. If you want a very Irish welcome please do pay a visit. This pub does not serve food... just drink ( maybe a packet of crisps)
Guests can access all parts of the house at their disposal.
Keys and access to the house are granted on arrival where you will be met by our housekeeper. She is called Sadie and will show you around, give you the keys and help you with any other queries you may have, about the house or the area.
PLEASE NOTE--- the entire house doesn't need to be rented. We can offer one or two rooms at a time at €100 per room per night with a minimum of 3 nights and still have the privacy of the entire house. This could apply to honeymooners, couples, or smaller sized families.
