I can’t rate the Tulira Stud highly enough, I bought two unbroken young ponies from Serena, one 3 year old, sourced by Serena and one of her own beautiful 2 year old Tulira bred ponies. Both ponies very different, the 3 year old turned out to be a super useful pony, everything Serena said he would be. Our Tulira pony has quality oozing from him literally, he was the easiest pony to break in and he always tries his best to please. Although professionally broken, he was then schooled on successfully and produced by a 17 year old. Our Tulira pony is very, very clever, honest and capable of undertaking literally any job. Our investment in our Tulira ponies was an excellent one, which I would highly recommend.

I would definitely recommend Serena at the Tulira Stud she did a fantastic job pairing me with Rodney. I had a limited budget but I am a fairly novice rider so I also needed something easy, Serena suggested an unbroken youngster she had, Rodney. I loved him immediately especially when he came to say hello when he was being loose schooled. He's been an absolute dream,  full of character and cheeky Commemara personality but a really good boy. He has been so easy to work with from the start. I have done everything myself, under the tuition of my instructor, he has made the transition from unbroken youngster to being part of the working family effortlessly. He loves his work and loves to please!  Whenever we go anywhere someone comes up to us to say either how remarkably well behaved he is or how good looking he is! He had also wowed the judges getting great comments from the dressage judges and winning his first jumping competition!

I'm really really excited about our future together.

The Summer of 2013 saw me return from a film in Hungary with a desire to buy myself a connemara.  I had been studying Tulira’s website throughout the 5 months I was away and my first weekend home I paid Serena, Millie and Serena’s parents a visit.   The range of ponies that Serena had were incredible from 143cm to 158cm and all of a good stamp and nice people as well.   I fell in love with a hazel eyed Glenn Rua Maxwell four year old in the field – he had been broken and turned away to mature.   By the time I had walked out of Serena’s gate, I was offered another film in Spain and Fuerteventura – so following a phone call, Western Max was purchased but left with Serena for 6 months whilst I was away.  The beauty of the production at the Tulira Stud is they are produced slowly but thoroughly.  When I came home, I picked up a pony with a thorough grounding, able to deal with most experiences he was to encounter.   He went on to elementary level under British Dressage rules, evented to BE90 and was Reserve Novice and Open Show Hunter Pony at the NPS Champs in 2017.   Anyone considering a Connemara should pay the Tulira Stud a visit – seeing these ponies in beautiful surroundings, living off good old pastures and in a natural environment is a pleasure and educational to say the least.

I have returned with several of my clients for further purchases and they have all gone away with their ponies of a lifetime, as did I with Western Max.

"We unfortunately experienced the sudden death of my son's beautiful connemara mare who was just superb. We immediately had to find a replacement and the search began with many horses viewed, miles travelled and all  dismissed. We were loosing hope until I came across Serena who owns the Tulira Stud. Serena listened to the exact requirements. Unfortunately she didn't have anything but immediately pointed us in the right direction and a very successful one. Serena understood our needs and I have already recommended a dear friend to her to see whether she can source a quality horse. I now have one very happy son and horse - thank you Serena."

In Spring 2018 we were looking to buy a young, good quality Connemara pony and a friend who had recently bought a lovely pony from the Tulira Connemara Stud put us in contact with Serena.

We discussed our requirements with Serena stating that we were looking for a Connemara that would be suitable for eventing and workers with good enough movement to do dressage and at the same time being sane and sensible.

Serena advised that she had one that may fit the bill and we arranged a visit and a ‘test drive’.  We were very impressed with the professional service, help and advice given and bought Dusty (Capparoe Bally Cove Boy) in May 2018.

He has been everything that Serena described, very straightforward with a lovely trainable temperament and loads of ability.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Serena and the Tulira Connemara Stud to anyone looking for a top quality Connemara.  If we were in the market for another in the future we would return to Tulira Connemara Stud.

Like so many people we were searching high and low for the elusive superstar Connemara with no success that is until a mutual friend introduced us to Serena and Angela. A phone call and several WhatsApp’s we knew this was a yard we needed to visit....fast.

On arriving at the Tulira Connemara Stud we were able to view a selection of truly beautiful ponies all of which ticked the boxes but one pony stood out for us, Percy or as he was then know ‘Lemonade’.

From the moment he landed on our yard Percy has been everything we wanted and more. Talented and kind once broken he has more than lived up to his potential winning at the 2018 breed show and going double clear round his first British Event. The future is bright for this pony and we are so grateful to the Tulira Stud for sourcing him, quality really does breed performance. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tulira to anyone for their next pony.
